My father when i was very young went to work in Saudi Arabia. While there he made friends. His last day there he was saying goodbye to everyone and was talking to a good friend he had made. The man told him something like "You're such a good man, its too bad you're going to hell." My father thinks this is because he is a Catholic, and the man is Muslim. Is it? The man didn't say it in a rude way or anything.

I dunno, I would never say this to anyone. Anyways, I guess so, and what the Saudi man probably meant is for your father to at least look into or study Islam because then he will maybe find the truth in it and convert to Islam. :)

He's joking. People in Saudi Arabia have a weird sense of humor. Trust me, he is. Edit: Before I was muslim I had moved to Saudi Arabia for 3 of my summers in Riyadh. I wasn't muslim and I made a lot of friends there. They are great people. But you must remember this is a totally different culture than the west. SO therefore they have a different sense of humor. Once a woman whom I visited her house for an essay I was doing. I asked her "Why do women in saudi arabia cover up" (in much respect). She said "Well, our husbands and male relatives force it upon us." I stood there thinking woah? She used a serious tone too. I asked "Why?" And she replied, "Judy, I'm only joking with you! Do you people in the west actually believe that?". They do joke around with their culture which is good.

MAybe he was sincerely concerned for his fellow human being... The Qu'ran says that anyone who worships something other than God alone, and dies in this belief without repenting, will never be forgiven by God... So Christians worship Jesus, a creation, instead of the Creator, which... I'm sorry to be frank with you but I'm just telling you what we believe, is an act of treason against God. Qu'ran says that the sky nearly tears open and the mountains nearly crumble at the idea that someone would worship a human being or ascribe to God a son... I'm not trying to offend you... I'm just stating what we believe... that to worship Jesus is a serious error... as Muslims we believe in JEsus... he is mentioned in the Qu'ran... as a Prophet and the JEwish messiah who performed miracles... but He was not Divine... to be Divine is to be no one's son [uncreated].. to be someones son is to NOT be Divine... can't be both... so to persist in such beliefs is very bad from the Muslim perspective... But I'm sure it was not meant to be offensive [and I am not meaning to be offensive]... it was just one religious man looking out for another person who he perceived to be a good person [your father]. Hope this clears it up. :-)

He said that because Muslims believe anyone who is not a Muslim will go to hell. The only Christians and Jews that won't are those who came before Muhammed. Even though the quran states Christians and Jews will go to heaven it negates that verse by saying any who assign partners to God, such as Christians do with Jesus, the Son of God, will go to hell.
