Does any one work in Saudi Arabia as an aircraft technician?
Does any one work in Saudi Arabia as an aircraft technician? I will finished up my A&P certification & BS degree in aviation management from Embry-Riddle University. I was told there is good money to be made in Saud and your family can come too. Any one currently working there? Any info. you can provide would be great. Safe? What are the living conditions? Pay? Is it worth it? What is it like living there? What city/location are most US workers? Etc. Thanks

yes we have many american bases in our country, we don't allowing building 'infidel' churches here but we allow their military bases to be built here! we are great Muslims indeed

There are a lot of Americans working in Saudi Arabia. Most Americans live in Riyadh, Jeddah, or Al Khobar/Dhahran. Most of them live inside compounds that cater to Americans and Europeans. Some choose to live outside, which will save you a lot of money, but you'll lose the benefits of being in a compound such as transportation for the kids to school, a pool, a small store inside for basic groceries, social gatherings, etc. The living conditions are very good in Saudi Arabia. There are many poor people who live in horrible conditions, but you'll have a good job and will find a nice place to live. Saudi Arabia is very safe. There's not much crime. The only thing that's not really safe is driving. People don't respect the traffic laws at all, including a lot of the police force. Also, women cannot drive yet. Pay - Usually very good for Americans. Americans are generally on the top of the pay scale for most companies. Is it worth it? - That's all up to you. You have to weigh everything before making your decision. I don't work here. I'm married to a Saudi, so I can't really tell you what it's like living here as an expat worker. I live like a Saudi...

Boeing is huge here.. Im not sure where the headquarters office is.. but in usa isnt it in Chicago?.. you might try searching out their offices and apply..

Check out www.jobsataramco.com they are looking for A&P certified techs. However, they usually require 10 years + experience. Living on Aramco is like being a spoiled little kid, the houses are not as nice as some compounds but the rest of the facilities, schools etc are first rate.

Is it okay to work in Saudi Arabia, as a nurse

Is it okay to work in Saudi Arabia, as a nurse?
My daughter had applied for a job in Saudi Arabia. She's a nurse here in our country Philippines. She's assigned to King Fajad Hospital. Is the working condition there okay? We're worried since many of our countrymen who worked there had been abused, especially the domestic helpers.

ask the British English teacher that is going to get 40 lashes because she let her students name a teddy bear mohammad..
2 :
she will be perfectly fine... Dont let the media circus scare you off.. They only want to take and run with negative stories.. Which you will find abuse all over the world if you read enough papers.. I wont sit here and innocently say the world is a charm and everywhere is wonderful.. Sure there are instances everywhere. but for the most part. Saudi Arabia will be just fine for her.. a great experience not to miss... As for the bad media coverage.. No journalist is going to report about Happy Sally's wonderful work experience in such and such place and how nice her salary was/is and how great she is treated cause that is the most boring news report on earth.. You only hear the once in a blue moon bad reports and thereby making everyone generalize thinking its the normal way people are treated here.. ... anyways.. Goodluck and God bless her. she honestly will be fine
3 :
yes,it's ok. don't worry, she will be fine :)

Madam, Majority of Hospital workers in Saudi (Jeddah, Riyadh, Qassim, Qatip, Dammam, Dharan, Hofuf, Rabigh, etc) are Philippinos and they are collectively very close to each other living in a compound provided by the hospital and having a bus transport that bring them to the city centers back & forth. They are receiving salaries starting from US$800 up to US$1,500 (tax-free) which is a good salary compared to the nurses in your place. The problem is Philippino by nature are fun loving and very emotional people. And this is where the problem begins. The sense of belonging, the craving for attentions and caring push a lot of Philippinos to inter into a relationship against the Catholic norms of your culture - hence they always say that all Philippinos in Saudi are either, bachelors, widowers, or abandoned (NO MARRIED) !!! King Fahd Hospital in Jeddah and Riyadh are both fine professional hospitals with big Philippino Community. Just ask your daughter (whether she is single or married) NOT to fall for a married man (specially non-Philippinos) and avoid pre-marital S*X. (Getting pregrant in Saudi out of marriage or without known husband in SAUDI is a BIG CRIME and Prostitution is normally the charge) Good luck to your daughter !!!
5 :
If she gets permission from her employer to work as a nurse then it will be ok. Yes doctoring and teaching are ok for women in Saudi Arabia.
6 :
Yes, it's a nice place to work. My father is one of the doctors there. There are thousands of Filipino nurses in Saudi Arabia. Good luck :)
7 :
yes its very normal.. im pediatric resident in jeddah(im saudi) &i have alot of friends whos philipino nurses ,, some of them spent more than 10 yrs here& they r ok

How did slavery work in Saudi Arabia before abolishment in 1962

How did slavery work in Saudi Arabia before abolishment in 1962?
Salamu aleikum all... I did some business in arabia and saw that some Saudis treated immigrant workers relatively badly. As if they were lesser humans. A quick research revealed that slavery was abolished there only in 1962. Were there muslim slaves? If yes, doesn't this contradict with the teachings of islam? Were they imported from somewhere or were they members of native slave families?

well not having been born yet.. I dont have much experience first hand knowledge.. but from what i know.. its not much different from slavery anywhere else in the world.. ie: USA for example. or South Africa.. etc etc.. and just cause the laws were abolished in 1962, doesnt mean there were millions of slaves in 1962.. there werent.. Just a law on the books is all.. and my life growing up.. There werent much foreign labor when I was younger 30years ago.. until just recently in the early 80's when the oil boom started, thats when all of a sudden we started hiring maids, drivers, and laborers.. before the Saudi's did it all themselves.. and not everyone is treating unskilled laborers badly.. dont generalize.. its the same as anywhere else.. Do you think all Americans who hire an immirgrant treats them badly? NO.. same here..
2 :
The law concerning slavery was only changed recently, compared to other countries. However the problems some foreign workers face are not due to this. It is more due to the fact that the influx of foreign labour was both sudden and very large, and the legal mechanisms have been slow to catch up with the new reality that there are millions of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia these days. For most foreigners, the Saudi legal system is very hard access, let alone navigate, and so they are afraid to approach the authorities if they are mistreated, and some unscrupulous employers will take advantage of that. The same is true, though, of anywhere that has a large immigrant workers population who are unsure or nervous of approaching the authorities. The only difference is that the Saudi authorities have been slower to make efforts to make themselves accessible to foreign workers, whereas other countries (such as Singapore) have launched dedicated outreach units. And to answer your question about religion, I don't believe there was any particular issue with having Muslim slaves. It was simply a matter of convenience. Most slaves came from the horn of Africa, as it was nearby and with established trading likes with the peninsula, and it just so happened that many people were, and are, Muslim.
3 :
slavery still exist, just now it is filipina maids forced to have sex with there emploer and beaten by his jealous wife and Pakistan, Bangladeshi men in bonded labor.
4 :
Muslims can't be slaves. Also you have to treat your slaves equal and let them get married if they want to. Not like the USA, where they treatead the Native Americans*yes they did enslave the native Americans and tried slavery with the white people* before enslaving the blacks, after bribing African tribes and kidnapping tons of innocent men, women and children from their homeland. In the USA, slaves were treated like lesser beings, like animals, and a slave master could rape his slave girl and father children with her, thus making his children slaves. But Islam says, that a man can have sex with his females who his right hand posses, as well as his wives(I think that only applies to war; better ask an Sheikh or Imam for better information), and any child born of a slave girl and her master is a free person. They aren't slaves. Slaves can't be beaten in Islam, and you ahve to treat your slaves like human beings(i.e. give them the same food as you eat, the same clothes you wear, etc.). But the prophet(Salla Allahu alahi Wa Salaam) encouraged us to free our slaves. We can also free our slaves for the ransom of a Muslim prisoner, or free a slave during Ramadan if we are unable to fast. It counts as a good deed.
5 :
i dont know how it was during that time but it was not very common .. if i am not mistaken, it was only at some of the higher end of society and it was not like the slaves as you see them in old slavery movies .. with chains, put them in jails and sell them as commodities .. it was more of a servant / boss relationship, where they are provided with home shelter, salary .. vs. help and loyalty. it is very much similar to the big boss in any province in the world (my men). personally, there was not any single story of a slave i heard in my whole family roots or relatives, and those stories go for a 100 years. so, i assume it was very little. About slavery, it still exists today, and worse than any other time in history. According to the book in the link below, that: In the past it was limited to the elite class, and buying a slave is like buying a mercedes car. Today, you can get a slave for a 100 dollars in Haiti (worst place for slavery in the world. There is a new trafficking to slave in the USA every half an hour. One of worst places of slavery today is Israel with sex slave traficking. Also countries like Vietnames and Thailand. There is about 70,000 prostitutes underage in Vietname alone, this is other than the other Vietnamese exported to other countries. There is no way that a teenage will choose to be a prost. by choice at this young age.

Sure it still exist and 'ME' gave the best answer. I personally know Philippina girls who escaped that environment. . .being raped by a dirty unshaven Saudi master and told to keep quiet or they will be beheaded. GOD what a decadent bunch of people hiding behind religion. Mind you not all Saudis are like that, however the perpetrators leave such a bad impression behind that people think all Saudis are like that.

No there's no way you can do that. Your liver enzymes are way out of whack. Have you received any treatments for this chronic disease? I would not suggest you go to Saudi Arabia. My suggestion is SEE A DOCTOR.
2 :
Why would you even want to do something like that? These precautions are put in to place for your protection and the protection of others.
3 :
Get yourself treated, with pegylated interferon and ribavirin.
4 :
well, that is stupid of the goverment then as hcv, is not spread by any way except for blood. it is not contagious any other way. there IS a cure for hepatitis c and your genotype has a lot to do with how well you would respond to treatment, but if you ask your doctor for antiviral chemotherapy and remain "sustained" for a year or more post antiviral chemo, a person and his doctor will tell you that you are cured. after responding to treatment, you will always test positive for antibodies, however, the active parts of the virus are dead. ask your doctor!
5 :
There is no way to make the antibody test negative. Even if you clear the virus yourself (about 20 per cent of people do) or if you successfully cure the hep C with peginterferon and ribavirin, the antibody test will still show positive.
