What does a friend of mine need to know about living and working in Saudi Arabia as an entertainer

What does a friend of mine need to know about living and working in Saudi Arabia as an entertainer?
singer/actor. Apparently he's been offered a contract to do 2 shows a day 4 days a week. He will be taking his wife and 3 teenage children also. Are they in for a culture shock? as they are typical brits who drink beer eat bacon butties, he sleeps around and has also accused his wife of it..Is it true the penalty for adultry there is death or is that just for muslims?

ALL I KNOW IS THAT SHARIA LAW IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO MUSLIMS ,
2 :
My Sisters friend moved to Saudi Arabia with her parents a while ago and she hated it so much that she came back to the UK alone and moved in with her Grandparants. This is mainly because women have little or no rights there and ALL women are required to wear a Abaya (long sleeve, gown) and most probably a head covering too, not allowed to drive etc. Alcohol is banned there and I don't think he will get a sniff of a bacon buttie! Their laws are very strict (Shariah) and the death penalty is used for alot of crimes, including Adultry. If a women is raped then it is she who is punished, not a great place to live unless you want to make some drastic life changes, so, yes, no advisable for this kind of guy and his family! Check out this report http://www.escapeartist.com/efam/56/Working_in_Saudi_Arabia.html

The laws in saudi apply to everyone, muslim or not. Adultery is illegal, and can carry the death penalty - note that the Saudi officials tend to be harsher on non-Saudi citizens, to make sure visitors do not think they can just get away with disobeying the rules. Sleeping around is a definite no. As is pork, so no more bacon. As to a culture shock, yes, very much so. From things like women not being allowed to drive, people not being allowed to wear clothes classed as 'revealing', to a total ban on alcohol and gambling. Perhaps they should visit for a few weeks first, before deciding to move out there? http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/travel-advice-by-country/middle-east-north-africa/saudi-arabia?ta=lawsCustoms&pg=3

Not really. If they stick to staying in compounds they'll be fine. They can drink here!! Listen I am a teenage girl, and I have lots of British friends and we get drunk on weekends and get high. There are crazy house parties. You'll be fine as long as you are in the DQ or in a Compound & send your kids to the British or American school - well I'm in Riyadh I'm not sure if this applies to other cities. I go to the american school i use to go to the british one and they are both pretty good. Bacon. You can just get some from bahrain or the embassy. I remember my friends did that. They went to bahrain by car and got all this shittt. But you have to go by CAR. okkk Hope this helpss. Oh and women can drive if the car is fully tinted. Just make sure you have a guy with you. & you can drive freely in the DQ or in your compound. The other answers are seriously over-exaggerated.

Hi I hadn't work with the Air Force before , but I'm from Riyadh , I wish to help you in the Riyadh's info. * First of all like all foreigners have stereotypes about saudi society : don't afraid to talk with saudi's they respect the foreign people . * Riyadh is a safe place to live in , we always as saudi's make our house's door opened to the guest , this is one of our customs . * Many Saudi's know English specially young people ,so don't hesitate to ask anyone if you wanna anything . * Riyadh is a big city and its a good city for shopping&having fun . * Like others big cities its crowded in certain hours . *There are many big malls there (e.g. Alfaisaliah , Kingdom,Hayat , and Sahara mall ) . *There are many big supermarkets like Panda , Carfour , and Gian . and there are best coffee shops . *Most popular street in Riyadh is Olaya street . On Olaya street you'll find many malls, coffee shops and resturants . *If you love desert there is popular desert (20 KM from Riyadh ) called Thumamah , its smooth's sands make it beautifull place to visit . *There is no "offically " wine in Saudi Arabia . *Your salary is very acceptable here in Saudi . hope this help u

What company? Boeing? I don't know about the Jadawel compound in Riyadh, but the jadawel compounds in Khobar are decent.. They aren't huge, but they have many western families there and they try to bring many amenities to help you.. they have a little commissary to buy a few western products, they have pools, recreation, shuttle buses for women to take them to the major shopping grocers and malls, they have loads of social activities also.. .. The security is well, and as for your salary, that is excellent, you will be able to save loads if you don't spend extravagantly... If you budget and purchase local goods and don't go overboard purchasing the imported stuff like name brand items (your wife might go wild there, its tempting) you can save loads for a good nest egg to go back home with.. You can get a good used car here (don't go purchasing a brand new one just for the time here) there are many good used ones and gas is so cheap, so you can save there.. .. You'll be fine.. welcome and good luck! ^_^ PS: are you moving to SAudiArabia or Pennsylvania.. your other question was about pennsylvania...

University of Phoenix AIU Online Kaplan University DeVry University Online Western Governors University Columbia Southern University Baker College Online Strayer University Jones International University Colorado Tech Online There are many more, but these I know are all accredited. Be very careful when you go to choose an online degree that the school is properly accredited or your credits will be worthless.
2 :
You might want to try the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. I am studying at USQ online and I've had a few fellow students in my classes studying from Saudi Arabia and the UAE. USQ will provide an exam centre near where you live. That won't be a problem. And they offer a wide range of degrees from undergraduate to graduate. Check them out here: http://www.usq.edu.au/international/default.htm I have also completed a BS online through Excelsior College in the USA: http://www.excelsior.edu. This college is the oldest distance education provider in the USA and is regionally accredited. All Australian universities have Australian government accreditation. The Australian government does not permit for a non-accredited university to operate in Australia. If you have any questions about what it's like studying at USQ, or Excelsior College, send me an email. Hope this helps.

Women should dress decently, cover all parts of the body except the hands, legs and face, do not attract attention. No public drinking of alcohol, no eating pork. Conform to all other cultured and civilised behaviour(no stealing, fighting, cheating etc). Good luck I love shopping in Saudi.
3 :
basic things you must know before entering Saudi Arabia are the ff: 1. knowing their culture-language, religion, traditions, etc. is the first thing you should know because you need to adopt such culture if want to work there right?....and ask yourself can i adopt such or not? 2. next thing is the places in Saudi you should familiarize yourself with the different places in Saudi or else you'll get lost... 3. their laws or rules and regulations...you need to know that it's very important... 4. knowing the type of weather in Saudi is also an important matter because if you came , let say from a cold place and you will stay in a hot place like Saudi you'd better ask your self if you can adopt such changes in your environment.....
4 :
If you're staying for a long time, the language. A lot of people have stayed for decades and still cant speak Arabic. Sometimes it may not be necessary, but it enriches your experience by several times.

7 :
If your a woman you need to wear hijab and abaya. There is a strict religious police in Saudi Arabia who controls everything including dress there for both men and women. The abaya is black and usually the hijab is as well. Also if you want I recommend wear the niqab as well. Don't wear skintight or revealing clothing. Make sure your hair is covered at all times outside. No doing drugs or drinking alcohol. No smoking. Make sure you have a man escort you everywhere. Women can not drive in Saudi Arabia so don't try it otherwise you'll get a ticket. If you want to go outside to a resturant everything in Saudi is segregated by sex so you'll have to sit with the women. Don't talk to any men there as it's disrespectful. Listen to your boss.

they probably get their income from the US government...so it would be pretty good
2 :
ofcourse our silly country gives double Salaries to americans while we are broke
3 :
exactly salary depends on your experience, age, nationallity, acheivements ,and employer . my brother is Dentist , and he is fresh graduate (just graduated from the university ) . he take around 3700$ monthly as minimum . while you an American citizen, you will get more than that so its will not be under 4000$ as worst case ! I know saudi doctor with 10 years experience (graduated from harvard ) he takes around 34,000$ monthly . undercover> loooools , this is the life , what can we do ?
4 :
the salary would also depend on whether u r actually american (white skin) or an eastern with american nationality. so plz clarify.
5 :
Anywhere from 40,000 to 80,000 S.R./month
6 :
it's around usd 20k per month depends on d experience, the more experience the higher is the salary.
7 :
too much
8 :
It's hard to say unless you are a doctor here. Also, I'm sure it depends on your specialty. If you're a GP then I'm sure the pay is much less than a surgeon, right? You can't just generalize and say how much do doctors get paid... I'm sure the American doctors here are getting paid at least what they would make in the US (and the income is tax-free) otherwise they probably wouldn't come here, right? Housing is sometimes included, if not, you get a housing allowance which should be enough for nice housing inside a secure compound. Most contracts probably include airline tickets home each year. Bringing your family would be easy for you. No problem at all. However, in some cases, the family comes after 3 months or so because the paperwork is different.

Can a pregnant wife can get family visa in saudi arabia?
I m working in saudi arabia. my wife is pregnant and i want to bring her in KSA. A pregnant wife can get family visa in KSA or not?
Saudi Arabia - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Since when is pregnancy a reason for visa denial? YOU have to fulfill the requirements to sponsor your wife pregnant or not.
2 :
you are thinking if your wife is pregnant that it would "help" in her getting a visa.. thats what im getting from your question.. (not a denial, like he said above).. Nope, sorry.. just cause you have children doesnt make it any more easier for you to get a visa for her.. You still have to go by the normal requirements..
3 :
Preganancy of your wife has nothing to do with your family visa. If you are in the category where you are eligable to sponsor your family, you can get your family visa any time. Just get a company letter, marriage certificate, her passport pay the 2000 SAR visa fee and you can get it.
4 :
Yes, as long as you can support her financially, you should be able to bring her. I think that most jobs agree, unless you are in a particulary category where the salaries are very low- thus meaning that you only have enough to get by and send some.

Is it safe to travel to Saudi Arabia

Is it safe to travel to Saudi Arabia?
I am Florida and my dad is over in Saudi arabia working as a paramedic. But I need to know if Saudi is a safe place to be.
Saudi Arabia - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
yes its safe and it always has been... There is statistically more things that would happen to someone on a street in USA than here in SaudiArabia.. Crime is extremely low here.. No terrorist attacks happening, no war going on. We dont have drugs and alcohol problems. So no drug/gang related problems or drive by shootings.. The only thing that will bother your Dad is the extreme heat. he will be just fine...
2 :
.....yes it is safe here....its the main misconception of many that Saudi Arabia is not a safe place to live and to work. Its because of the 9/11 issue, terrorists, etc. Though those people involved there are Saudis, it doesn't mean that everybody are also the same. Its not even 1% of the total population of Saudi who engaged in terrorism.....
3 :
if your dad is already over in saudi working, shouldn't he already have an idea about how things are here? anyway, yes it's quite safe to travel, visit or live in saudi arabia...there are many non saudis and non muslims working in many saudi cities...americans as well.... crime rate is very low in comparison with the states(we have no gangs, no serial killers, no armed robberies, no serial rapists)... you're from florida so you might be already used to the humidity and hot weather depending on which floridian city you're in...but it's a bit more harsh here in saudi...it's very hot in summer especially in the central and eastern provinces...humidity is too high in the west coast...winter is pleasent (more like spring in the states) in the western region, gets quite colder in the central and eastern area...rarely do we get frost, no snow (rare cases occurred in the past couple of year in the far northers and southersn parts)...no hurricanes and severe thunderstorms...occassional sand storms in the east or central regions....no volcanos, no earthquicks, no forest fires (we simply don't have forests)... driving might be the greatest danger we have in major cities, accidents are at a high rate...crazy drivers almost in every major city, messed up roads in some cities... so if you got weather and driving covered...you're pretty much good to go...
4 :
if your dad jog during the summer at noon at jeddah or riyadh he might suffer from heat stroke and serious dyhydration. temp reaches here something like 120 F easily. other than this, mmmmm, he should be safe
5 :
yea its safe ... There is no drugs, alcohol, gangs .... there is ofcource but not alot maybe 0.01 percent .... but take care its a safe coutry but hot as hell.
6 :
yes, it is safe.

first of all you have to look at your diet chart . what kind of items that you are taking in your diet. as you have told that the nature of your work is that type that it does not any phsical exercise to you. a rational way of taking diet is that if your are working hard and hard involving physical movement.then you should take very heavy diet including fats , milk, beef etc. but if you are in ease , your work is based on no stress of body then take light nutritious food. see balance is somewhat important, if you take that much food which your body does not require then you will certainly get fat belly problem , no problem you need to do is that do yoga , go for a morning walk. during office work try to stand up and go here and there, in the wash room to eash your face, to drink water drink lot of water sit and stand on your chair when no body is around if your a muslim, offer five times prayer. try to do your all domestic work with your own hands , this will also give comfort to your wife. if not , play indoor games, like cricket , foot ball foot ball acquires lot of your belly energy talk a lot in the morning stand on your one leg for about twenty minutes this will improve your nervous system, feel like you are a tree thet make a poster of a tree having branch on it with leaves and birds are chriping around you. stick towards your religion this will make you habitual of waking early in the morning

Did you hear about the threat Saudi Arabia made to Egypt telling us to stay away from Mubarak and..?
The Kuwaiti newspaper wrote that Saudi Arabia has threatened Egypt telling us to stay away from Mubarak and stop doing any investigation or take back the money Hosni Mubarak stole. If we do not comply to their threat they will send back all the Egyptians who work in Saudi Arabia and they will stop sending aid and cooperating with us in the future? Can you believe this??? I'm shocked.

Mubarak is currently 82 years old and ill and 'unemployed' after 30 years as the President of Egypt ... Every semblance of the Mubarak regime is being dismantled in Egypt. Perhaps this is enough, I do not agree with the travel ban on himself or his family or the threat of their imprisonment. It is out of line for Saudi Arabia to threaten Egypt in this way, but at least the King of Saudi Arabia is not ashamed of his friendship with Mubarak, or too much of a coward to be associated with an old friend who has become a liability - unlike the American or European leadership.
2 :
Yes I do believe .. And you can add Jordan and Kuwait ..
3 :
yes ,unfortunately I saw this news on the internet. I believe that they did that for themselves because they are afraid that their societies which aren't stable as they appear do the same thing with them. you know there are lots of protests in the arab countries so, if a president like Mubarak is investigated, this step will encourage their peoples to do the same thing with them. In addition, they say according to the newspaper that he presented to them many services (of course not for their peoples) but for the stability of their regimes. Besides, it is said that he invests many of his fortune (which is stolen from the egyptian people) in their countries so, they want to protect him. Do you remember the reaction of Kuwait when some egyptians were gathering to talk about El Baradei, they enforced them to leave the country in no time. @G.#2 try this link http://www.elfagr.org/dailyPortal_NewsDetails.aspx?nwsId=152&secid=1

What is your inner intention to repeat the question for the second time,I advice you to seek the help of the Saudi King !
4 :
You first have to consult your Company Labour Office or your employer if they can give you a recommendation to the Saudi Immigration Dept. for you to apply for a visit visa for your wife and kids. You too have to prove of all ways and means to support them during their 90 days stay in the kingdom, the visa processing and their 2-way transportation expenses. Good Luck!

Without Iqama (work permit in Saudi Arabia) woman can marry any man

Without Iqama (work permit in Saudi Arabia) woman can marry any man?
Without Iqama (work permit in Saudi Arabia) woman can marry any man? If woman have no workpermit or escape from his crazy Kafeel and have no Iqama (work permit) and want to marry any man is that possible.?
Saudi Arabia - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
an iqama is not a "work permit".. its a living permit.... you need a work permit which is a special visa stamped inside your passport.. then you get an iqama which is your legal residence permit... it will show what status you are here on.. work, spouse, visitor, etc.. but its not your exclusive permit... and that has nothing to do with marriage.... a saudi woman cannot marry a non saudi man without special permission.. for one, she has to be a widow or a divorcee, and other than that, older than 40 (life over the age of an easy marriage).. if she is out of these catagories, she needs to apply and state her case and hope for approval, but only granted in extreme certain cases.. normally she is denied.. she absolutely will 99.9% never be granted a marriage to a non muslim... ( I wont say 100% cause you never know).. but the iqama has nothing to do with marriage.. if a maid escapes from her sponsor and wants to marry someone here in Saudi.. she certainly cannot do it legally.. Im sure people try to get around it and find some person that can perform marriage rites under the table, (outside the law).. but this marriage wont be approved by Saudiarabia, and if you are caught with this woman, you will be picked up for adultery and fornication and deported. you and her.. and you will be subject to public lashing for punishment... would you want to put her through all this? if you really want to marry your Philipino woman you have mentioned in past posts.. why dont you do the leg work and go to the Philipines instead of going through so much hardship here in saudiArabia.....
2 :
without residential permit aka iqama u cant breath in saudi arabia. work permit doesn't have relation with marriage. no marriage without iqama.
3 :
I agree with both above.. yes like minte says.. its illegal in saudiarabia
4 :
LOL, Mintee is sometime harsh. Well, here is way. Yes, as a man you can marry anybody. All you need to do is go to the relevant embassy, sort out the paper work. In worse case scenario she will have to go back to her country and come back again after you sort out the documents here and there. @invisible... Oh! Mintee! have a Invisible fan. Invisible Dude or Dudette are on some type of weed. Of cause I respect every answer here, regardless of who writes it. I never mentioned, any disrespect. Only, her reply was bit personal towards Abaid.
5 :
@ gearaz -------watch your words -------MINTEE is one of the most sophisticated ,finest and the most intelligent and knowledgeable muslim woman i have ever come across in yahoo answers------i consider her as my elder sister she is not harsh --------but speaks plainly as she sees it --------and helps and has already helped many people in her own special way to the max- i would always respect this wonderful lady -----till the last day of my association with Y/A just my view good luck

I think the muslim world needs more women dr.s as there are many women patients who refuse going to the dr. as most are males. They need women to work in every field of medicine not just obstetrics & gynecology. Apart from this, teaching - whether at schools, colleges, or at home, is a good profession. Plenty of other things but depends on your qualifications and interests.
2 :
I lived in Saudi for 4 years. Best fields for a woman would be healthcare (nurse or doctor), education, special women's banches in banking, and positions in businesses solely focused on selling to women and/families (such as house calls etc.). Any of these jobs pay well, and it is always tax free. Also, you will save a lot of omey in Saudi.. there is not much to spend money on....

You bet your ass it is illegal. every thing that could be fun or cool is outlawed in that hellhole. armpit of the world
2 :
Having tattoos is forbidden in Islam because you are altering the body that God gave and made for you. It's forbidden for Saudi nationals and anyone living in the country. I would suggest waiting until after your job is complete to get a tattoo just to be on the safe side.
3 :
Hmm? yes Tattoos are forbidden in Islam, and you will find no Tattoo parlor anywhere in SaudiArabia.. at least in the open, I dont know if there are black market parlors, but Ive never heard of them.. but having said this.. Ive lived in Aramco housing community for a number of years and there were many American men who had tattoos on their forearms.. No one said anything to them, they are NOT fired due to this.. My immediate neighbor being one.. He was the full fledged tattoo/harley davidson motorcycle dude.. long hair, he pulled back in a pony tail, the boots, etc... It was hilarious to see him like this in this society, but no one cared.. He minded his own business and didnt try to flaunt the tattoos, that was just him.. (OH and by the way, he is a supervisor on a drilling rig)
4 :
it is illegal in saudi arabia, they probably will not let you in the country.
5 :
Muslims are not into having tattoos for certain reasons. Leaving this alone, no, you will not have a problem being a non Muslim and having a tattoo. Just have it made in your home country and not in KSA. Take care.

How many cigarettes can I bring back with me from Saudi Arabia in to the US

How many cigarettes can I bring back with me from Saudi Arabia in to the US?
My boyfriend is working in Saudi Arabia and would like to know how many cigarettes is he allowed to bring back with him (through customs) in to the US.... Any suggestions?
Saudi Arabia - 7 Answers

1 :
He can bring back as many as he wants, but don't get caught but really, You are allowed only 2 cartons of cigarettes through customs.
2 :
I don't know where "Peter K" got his information from, but you are allowed to bring in 200 cigarettes only which means 1 carton. Your bf should put one carton inside the check in luggage and a couple packs in different pockets and the carry on. That way he will be fine. Do not overdue it. When caught (and that happens) he will not get punished, but will have to pay tax on it. That way cheap cigarettes will become expensive fast.
3 :
Tell him to use his socks, they never check there.
4 :
I took about 3 cartons with me, but what I did was I removed the packs out of the cartons and spread them out in my clothes. not really hiding them, just removed from the cartons so they knew I wasnt planning on selling them. I also had on my carry one a few packs.
5 :
yes. spread them out in your carryon and checked.. and put them in your underwear (the underwear in the luggage, not what your wearing. hahaha) .. no one likes riffling through old gross underwear.. its true..
6 :
well, check the us customs website, tobacco and firearms office maybe. usually it is 200 cigarettes per person, or 10packs.
7 :
i think 2 cartons.

I am an Indian currently working in Saudi Arabia. I have to visit UAE. can I get visa on arrival

I am an Indian currently working in Saudi Arabia. I have to visit UAE. can I get visa on arrival?
Do i have to visit UAE embassy in saudi arabia for visa or can i get it when i reach UAE? Do I need to travel with passport or my Iqama is enough for travel within GCC?
Saudi Arabia - 3 Answers

1 :
The following categories of visitors may receive their visit visa at the airport, upon arrival. 1. AGCC Residents who are not GCC nationals but who have a high professional status such as company managers, business people, auditors, accountants, doctors, engineers, pharmacists, or employees working in the public sector, their families, drivers and personal staff sponsored by them, are eligible for a non-renewable 30-day visa upon arrival at the approved ports of entry. 2. National citizens of the following countries: UK(with the right of abode in UK), France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Spain, Monaco, Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and holders of Hong Kong SAR passports will be granted a free of charge visa for a single visit upon arrival in the UAE. It should be noted that this list may vary slightly from time to time and it is therefore best to check with your local UAE embassy or the airline that you are using to fly to the UAE. - If you do NOT fall into one of the above categories, you will require a visa and a sponsor for your visit. The sponsor normally applies for the visa on your behalf. Valid sponsors may be as follows:- a - Hotels & Tourist Companies can apply, on your behalf, for a Tourist Visa (valid for 30 days); or a Service Visa (valid for 14 days); or a Visit Visa (valid for 30 days and can be extended for other 30 days) b - Airlines & Airlines Handlers apply on behalf of their crew members for a 96-hour Transit Visa. c - Other Organizations based in the UAE may only apply for Visit Visas and Service Visas. d - Individuals (Relatives or Friends) already resident in the UAE may, subject to guidlines, also apply on your behalf for a Visit Visa. Tourist Visa A special category of visas under the Visit Visa type is a Tourist Visa, which can be obtained for individual tourists from: East and West Europe, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine, Albania, Russia, the Hellenic Republic, St Kitts-Navis, St Lucia, Mexico, Cuba, Bermuda, Belize, Guyana, French Guiana, Martinique, Antigua and Barbuda, St Vincent, Kingston, Palao other non-defined American nationalities, Thailand, South Africa, Singapore, China, Malta, Cyprus. The Tourist Visa entitles its holder to a 30 day stay and is non-renewable. The Tourist Visa requires the sponsorship of hotels and tour operators who bring in visitors from the above listed countries. The fee is AED 100. There is also a fee of AED 10 for visa delivery service by DNATA. Hotels, hotel apartments, tour operators, travel agents and airlines may not levy supplementary charges or processing fees in excess of AED 50/- for arranging visas for visitors. It does appear as though you will definately require a Visa.

Is it possible for foreigners to find a date in Saudi Arabia

Is it possible for foreigners to find a date in Saudi Arabia?
For someone who will be working in Saudi Arabia, is it possible to have some romantic life? I heard dating is illegal, but some people say there will be plenty of fun happening inside of the western compounds.

you know.. you should think of your visit to saudi as this... if you go to someones home, you abide or honor the rules that the hostess/houseowner has.. if she has some quirky rules, you follow them while in her home.. well same as SaudiArabia.. you are not forced to come here, you chose or are choosing to come here to work or visit, So abide by the rules/laws of the country while you are here.. If our Islamic morals dont allow for open dating etc, then dont.. Surely you can do without dating and just enjoy your time with your friends while here. The whole world wont revolve around a love relationship while you are here. having said this.. well im certain, humans are humans and feelings develop, no matter where you are.. Yes in some closed housing compounds, where westerners are more, they do have their own social gatherings and im sure they date there and build relationships.. just please, dont have the mindset of coming here just to find a love.. .. just come for the arabic culture, friendships, and beauty of the country...
2 :
well what u heard is right... Dating is illegal in saudi arabia... whatever happens in western compounds happens secretively n that is definitely not a platform to find your match.. already hooked up ones do get together there n have fun.. like there is intermixing of opposite sexes...BUT !!! not everyone is freely allowed in there.... only people who reside there n their friends can come n visit... people always find ways to break the law... so does that mean the law is to blame??? saudi govn. tries its best to stop any place of dating grounds etc... but few just go unnoticed bcz they r not aware of it.. correct measures r always taken to stop it n fines n cases r also filed strictly...
3 :
u should be professional & focus on your job rather than dating and such stuff. anyways, if things are going well where u at now & u desperately wanna date, trust me saudi arabia isn't the place to come.
4 :
It is considered "Taboo" or bad for Saudis to date. Most marriages here are arranged. In say, Aramco (Dhahran or R.T.) dating is fine.
5 :
dating your mom easier.
6 :
Yes there is plenty of fun inside the western compounds. I lived and worked there for thirteen ( 13 ) years with ARAMCO, now known as Saudiaramco. ARAMCO is the largest oil company in the world, employs over 65,000 people. Hey, sidiqui is free flowing inside those communities,..conducive to male/female adventures. Sidiqui ( sid - e - key ) is the Arab word for " my friend ", the word the Brits assigned to the 191 proof ethyl-alcohol made by westerners in their " still rooms. " Whether the western women are married or single, it's an orgy in those compounds,..I know. ( evil smile ) Just do not even think of schmoozing with the local Arab women. Don't even dream of it. Yikes,..what a thought,..scary. A word to the wise, is all I can say !

well. open a USA bank account.. and have it active even when u move to SA. and then, once u get to SA and get ur salary.. put the money direct into ur US account. as simple as that. OR u can have it in ur SA account and then use the Saudi ATM card to get money while ur in the US

Well there are a lot of ways to do so, Ex pact knows many of them, But I did so. You also have to buy a voltage transformer, because USA uses 110 voltages, and Saudi Arabia probably uses 220. But investigate about the voltage, because im not sure.

It's probably better for you to get married in Egypt or in your home country. The only way for you to come to Saudi Arabia as a single woman would be to get an Umrah or Hajj visa, and you probably need a mahram (male family member) with you. And, you'd still have to leave the country while he applies for the residence visa for you through his company, and you will have to submit an application through the embassy in your country. _______________________________ Since you're not a Muslim and cannot enter Saudi Arabia, you should get married in Egypt or the US. He should be able to take a vacation from his job for a couple weeks. During that time, you can get married. Then, he will probably have to notify his employer that he wants to bring his wife (because there are requirements for foreign workers to be able to sponsor their family to live in Saudi Arabia). After that, you should be able to do the application through the Saudi Embassy in Washington DC.
3 :
i don't really get what is the problem here...you are a a non saudi and you live outside saudi arabia, you want to marry an egyptian man who currently resides and works in saudi arabia....so you can, he can take a couple of days off and travel to where you are and get married then register the marriage certificate at the embassy and take you back to saudi with him....or you could go to saudi and get married there...legal papers and stuff aren't that complicated in this matter and he should ask and arrange for these things before you come and just finish things up after you do... maybe if you add more details i could help you better...
4 :
Of course you can! You can either marry him in egypt or in your home country or even Bahrain. If you lived in Saudi Arabia, you could even marry him here. There is absolutely no connection between the fact that he works in KSA and not being able to get married to you. Even if he was Saudi these days, with an 'extra fee' he can marry easily to anyone he chooses.
5 :
if you can enter saudi arabia, then yeah. but the fact that you are not Muslims makes this a little bit harder to enter saudi. if he goes on vacation to egypt or usa, that would be much better. good luck.
6 :
There is no problem marrying him. the problem is YOU getting to SaudiArabia as a single women.. Its a catch 22.. So your best bet is to both go to Bahrain, or Egypt to get married then he do the procedure to bring you to Saudi.. Maybe you can live with his family in Egypt will he's working on the paperwork.. It can take some time (yes a long time) so you could be waiting in Egypt and pick up some arabic in the mean while, which will help you .. Goodluck!

Yes, a chiller. Or get an air conditioner in the room and keep you room's temperature cooler. Neither fish, nor plants can leave in 40 degree C water. Even Discus fish that need warmer water do not like temperatures above 34 degree C. As for other fish, you have to keep water much cooler.

I would advise you to review http://www.cic.gc.ca There is a self-assessment quiz you should take, too, to see if you even qualify to come here. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assess/index.asp You need to have a job offer, too. For that, you will want to contact the Canadian Nurses Association. The link to their website is http://www.cna-nurses.ca/CNA/default_e.aspx Please note that Canada is already having to work through a thick backlog of applications from other prospective immigrants. We have about 980,000 applications already and so even if you qualify and apply today, you'll be in a very long line. Canada only accepts about 250,000 new immigrants each year so I think you can see that it'll take a long time for you.

Check with the Canadian embassy in Saudi Arabia. It would be best if you had a position before going to Canada. Check their immigration website for all the info you need.

Is it possible to marry him if he is working in Saudi Arabia

Is it possible to marry him if he is working in Saudi Arabia?
If the man is Egyptain and is working in Saudi Arabia does anyone know if it would be possible to marry him there. Everything I read leads me to believe that there is no way for me to marry him while he is there. I am from the US and non-mulsim.

After that, you should be able to do the application through the Saudi Embassy in Washington DC.

i don't really get what is the problem here...you are a a non saudi and you live outside saudi arabia, you want to marry an egyptian man who currently resides and works in saudi arabia....so you can, he can take a couple of days off and travel to where you are and get married then register the marriage certificate at the embassy and take you back to saudi with him....or you could go to saudi and get married there...legal papers and stuff aren't that complicated in this matter and he should ask and arrange for these things before you come and just finish things up after you do... maybe if you add more details i could help you better...
Goodluck!

work or not, foreigners should get their a$$e$ kicked out of the country. as always, now that stupid indian nomad is gonna come and write 5k words.
2 :
well im not racist to any nationality, but I do feel that saudiarabia should hire more saudi's.. but before this can happen, we need to have training courses for our youth to prepare them for these jobs.. Also train in how to handle yourself in the work force, respect authority, dress codes, social etiquite, responsiblity of timely work. etc.. all this needs to be taught to our youth before they can just jump in.. We have spoiled youth that some feel are above some jobs.. We cant all be a workforce of managers, some have to start at the bottom and realize it.
3 :
Saudis can work well. So Mintee is right.
4 :
saudization is the process of making all saudis work (or selected before a foreigner).
5 :
Hamad, you better thank the guest worker that slapped your hiney and made sure that you were being born ok..
6 :
Actually I wasnt going to answer this since Mintee has given such a good answer but I thought I shudnt disappoint Hamad!:) Anyway I completely agree with Mintee - I see no reason why you shud need foreign workers in such large numbers in this country. Do you realise the appalling situation this will create in the future for saudis who are totally reliant on guest workers for everything? In every country people start from the bottom and get to the top - why shud Saudis be any different? I find the laidback attitude in Saudis extremely endearing however I think it is v bad for the society and country as such. Oil was a blessing for you - please dont make it a curse! Mintee and others Saudi mums like her are bringing up a generation of youngsters which comprise about two-thirds of Saudi population. Such a high percentage of youngsters - and where are the jobs?? dont you guys find this alarming? everyone cannot be a manager - you have to Earn the rank of a manager. This is what saudi youth need to be taught. Wake up and smell the coffee guys!!!:):).
7 :
as a matter of a fact, we are working on it, and inshallah in a few years times, Saudi youth will be professional in working. I'm not being racial, but the situation is kinda bad now and we have too much ppl from out side
8 :
Well as what I see it, it can work but not in all fields or if only some saudis try to work hard and be sincere. They can already do good in transportation, commercial, banking, in some medical professions. In some technological they still depends to foreigners because some also don't like to do dirty jobs (like sewerage, waste disposal and other repair works). They also depend much in military and aircraft equipment operation and maintenance to some western consultants. And waht I said before Saudization can be fully achieved through hard work and dedication among the Saudis.

well Liam is trying to be optamistic up there.. it could be 8 days, it might be 3 months.. ive seen people getting it quick and some seem to take forever.. it might depend on if the company reps are doing their job following up with the government office.. and if the government office is backed up or not..
3 :
It usually takes about a 8 - 1 month for the the sponsor to get the visa, but everything else takes altogether about 3 - 4 months. Mine took about 2 and half months for the company to process.
